Innovation and Learning in a "Flat World"
In the past few years, one of the most common exhortations in the corporate learning literature has been to "align learning and business strategy." Yet most learning professionals, sometimes including chief learning officers and other learning executives, are not well attuned to strategic business issues and developments. They would do    well to focus their attention on innovation, because it has become a key element in the business strategy of    growing numbers of companies. And we must now see innovation in the context of an increasingly global, and    intensely competitive, business environment--that Thomas Friedman characterizes as a "flat world."
