1:  The May 2007 issue of LoD Viewpoints - The Potential and Risk of Three-Dimensional Virtual Collaboration and Learning Environments

Developments in multiplayer virtual environments may enhance collaboration, exploration, and learning for corporate professionals and others by enabling them to test ideas and solutions in complex, open-ended virtual settings in ways that would be difficult or impossible in real life. Corporations are testing the value of multiplayer virtual environments to connect and communicate better with customers and potential customers, even though the value of these environments is not yet well defined for business, and these environments need to evolve further and become demonstrably reliable and practical.

2:  Level 3 Assessments: Six Red Flags

By Ed Mayberry (klippet fra http://www.learningcircuits.org/
Here’s an overview of six red flags that will impact your ability to conduct effective Kirkpatrick level 3 assessments.
Consider the following situation:
You recently designed, developed, and delivered a blended learning workshop. The pre-work was online, and participants applied those online concepts in a classroom-based workshop. The VP of Sales catches you in the hall one day and asks you to do one of those “Level 3 assessment things”.  This assessment will determine whether his salespeople have applied the skills from the related workshop and online materials. The VP of Sales also indicated that it would be best if you – the course developer – send the email requesting that salespeople participate in the assessment. The VP concludes by stating: “…and try not to bother the sales managers, I have them working on a very important project.”
If a similar situation has caused you to lose sleep, then you understand some of the factors that will impede a Level 3 assessment.

Another Life: Virtual Worlds as Tools for Learning

By Jay Cross, Internet Time Group; Tony O'Driscoll, IBM; and Eilif Trondsen, SRI Consulting Business Intelligence (klippet fra www.elearningmag.org)

Are virtual worlds a breakthrough technology that will forever reshape learning and business? Or are they this season's over-hyped fad?

You'd have to try very hard to avoid exposure to the virtual world phenomenon in America these days. From "South Park's" hilarious episode on "World of Warcraft" (the world's largest MMORG, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) to Business Week's cover article in April, and with coverage on "Good Morning America," "CBS Sunday Morning" and countless other shows, virtual worlds appear to be the new-new thing.
